Travellers collect the strangest things when they are away from home.  I was once in a hotel where some of the other guests asked if they could buy the miniature litter bin that was used at the dinner table.  It had no design features, believe me.  But the oddest was a lady who wanted to buy the hotel’s Miele vacuum because she had been looking for that exact model back home.  A bulky souvenir in anyone’s view!
