A growing number of travellers are going abroad for many types of therapy and surgery, for example cosmetic surgery and - more sadly - for drug rehabilitation.  Some of the best centres for this are situated in the UK and US and the advantage of travelling to another country is that you are less likely to encounter someone that you know when you arrive. Even if you are not a celeb, a degree of privacy makes a big difference.
