Dog Friendly Hotels in Norfolk

We have stayed in Norfolk with our dog and at the time we had a very limited choice of dog friendly places to stay. Wells Next the Sea was our destination and we found a bed and breakfast that would not have been our first choice otherwise. Two years later the prospects for dog owners visiting Norfolk are a lot better. The first one is a real find - a true dog friendly hotel in one of the most attractive Norfolk coastal villages.
In Cley, the George Hotel welcomes dogs in several of its guest rooms and in half the restaurant area. This is worth a gold star - there is no ‘hygiene’ reason to stop well-behaved dogs going into a restaurants with their families. Full marks to The George for its common sense attitude. The hotel is in the centre of the small village of Cley on one of the best stretches of the North Norfolk coast. The huge skies, acres of colourful saltmarsh and mile-upon-mile of unspoilt beaches are all on the doorstep here. As you can probably tell, this is one of my favourite parts of Norfolk. www.thegeorgehotelcley.com
Crosskeys House is a small country hotel near King’s Lynn, in its own grounds beside the River Wissey. Formerly a coaching inn and farm complex, the building has a wealth of oak beams and an original inglenook fireplace in the lounge. In the riverside the hotel offers its guests the use of two fishing rods and a rowing boat free of charge from the hotel.
Dogs are especially welcomed in this rural idyll, and the hotel is within walking distance of a village pub if your dog should decide to drag you out to try the local brew. http://www.crosskeys.info/
Thee Titchwell Manor hotel is next to one of the major RSPB nature reserves, offering magnificent views over the marshes.
This hotel has recently been refurbished and extended to provide a high standard of comfort and excellent accessibility. More than 80 per cent of their rooms are accessible for people in wheelchairs. Five of the ground floor rooms are offered to canine guests, giving direct access to the grounds. Add to that wireless internet access and dog friendly accommodation, and this hotel is a winner. http://www.titchwellmanor.com
The Old Coach House, in the centre of the Norfolk village of Thornham, has twelve recently refurbished guest rooms, and a welcome is extended to dogs throughout the guest areas and bars. Although this attractive Inn has its own restaurant, breakfast is served in another village inn- five minutes walk away. I guess that is OK in good weather, but Norfolk is not the Med, despite the effects of global warming. http://www.oldcoachhousethornham.co.uk
