Two of the most evocative cities to stay in Europe are Berlin and Vienna and it is quite simple to combine a trip to both cities, with excellent air connections between the two. log about flying between Vienna and Berlin, and hotel to stay at in both cities. After the reunification Berlin has finally regained its status as the capital city and important buildings like the Staatsoper in Unter Den Linden have been restored to their rightful glory. Berlin also has a new funky atmosphere and is buzzing with creative enterprises. Among my favourite Hotels in Berlin are those close to the Tiergarten, I stayed at the Schweizerhof just after the Wall first came down and had an amazing time. I am not sure whether all the other Hotels in Berlin serve Vodka on the breakfast buffet, but this place certainly did.

Vienna is of course the home of the Waltz, Kuchen and Mozart. Definitely not the place to worry about your waistline - if the cakes are not your downfall, wait till you try the Wiener Schnitzel. Hotels in Vienna include some very traditional City hotels like the Altwienerhof in Mariahilferstrasse, well placed for all the main attractions including the Schonbrunn Palace. Most of the higher rated Hotels in Vienna
also serve the traditional Kaffee und Kuchen in the afternoon, and of course you could stay in the Hotel Sacher, where the famous Sacher Torte was first created in 1832. There are direct flights between Vienna and Berlin Tegel airport. If you visit the Lufthansa site you can check the online fare deals, and there is also a ‘happy hour’ page where you can bid for a cheap airfare. The low-cost airlines link the two countries as well, for example Air Berlin will take you between Dortmund, Hamburg or Dusseldorf and Vienna. Germanwings fly to Vienna from Cologne-Bonn airport.
