In the world of metal cutting and shaping, plasma cutting has vastly improved  productivity and lowered cutting costs.  Using a plasma cutter can be much faster and cheaper than oxy-acetylene cutting or mechanical cutting processe.  The gas is heated in a chamber between the electrode and torch tip, ionizing the gas and creating plasma. This plasma gas expands and its volume increases to enable it to cut a precise line through metal.
