La Casona, Cusco, Peru
Built on the site of the Palace of Inca Manco Capac, founder of the Inca Empire, in Cusco, this small hotel, which opens in February, will provide a luxurious start or finish to the Inca trail. In the old quarter of Cusco, the former 16th-century Spanish mansion has 11 open-plan suites, open fireplaces, large bathrooms and therapy tables for in-room massage.
